April • May • June

Jamaica Bay is an amazing fishery located just 20 minutes from Manhattan. This area holds tremendous amounts of bait, including Menhaden, silversides, and grass shrimp. Spring is the time to catch large Striped Bass post spawn and get a shot at weakfish and bluefish as well. This area starts much earlier in the spring than other Eastern waters and extends late into the fall, sometimes remaining productive until late December. During the spring the fishing is in the bays and creeks where the water is more sheltered. This is also the best time of year to target large Stripers while fishing in shallow water. Check out the photo gallery for pics of the trophy fish caught in Jamaica Bay.

June • July • August

The Hampton's, Gardinend the surrounding flats of Amagansett, Sag Harbor and Peconic Bay. We fish the skinny water, sight casting to wary Bass that reach weights into 20+ pounds! This fishery is extremely rewarding, targeting specific fish in very shallow water, testing your casting and presentation abilities. If the sun doesn't come out, sight fishing is difficult, so we can either fish Montauk for large bass in the rocks or fish the structure in long island sound by Fisher's Island.
August also brings the opportunity for Blue fin, Skipjack, Bonito, Spanish Mackerel and Mahi Mahi, either in Jamaica Bay or Montauk, please check in with me to see where they're biting!

September • October

Fishing Montauk can be a life changing experience that takes place just after Labor Day when the false albacore invade, feeding on bay anchovies. It can be some of the best albie fishing you will ever have. Soon after, the albies are joined by massive schools of stripers and bluefish and the Fall Blitz is officially on!!! This will be some of the craziest fishing you will ever see with acres and acres of fish, crashing bait all around the boat, sometimes even hitting the boat with their tails! This time of year books up quickly and I strongly suggest you book as soon as you can and also as many days your schedule allows.

November • December

As the waters begin to cool, the fish migrate further west and the fishing in Jamaica Bay and New York Harbor starts to pick up again. These Striped Bass are aggressively feeding on baitfish all along the south shore of Long Island. When the herring make their way past Breezy Point at the mouth of the bay, the fishing can be absolutely fantastic with immense amounts of bass crashing the surface. There are also large sand eels for the bass to feed on and sometimes the frenzy can be spectacular! The temperatures are still fairly mild at this point, just dress warm and fish hard, you can be catching a fish of a lifetime right in the shadow of the NYC skyline.
